WELCOME TO THE
On a Thursday afternoon in Norfolk, Arianna and Wesley gathered with their families for a courthouse ceremony that was straightforward, calm, and exactly the pace they wanted. As a Virginia wedding photographer, I’m always drawn to the ease of days like this — no production, no pressure, just the commitment and the people who matter.

The Norfolk Courthouse is one of the most efficient places to get married in the Hampton Roads area. You arrive, sign in, wait briefly, and before long you’re standing together in a small room with your officiant and your witnesses. Arianna and Wesley’s families filled the space with an easy energy — present, relaxed, and giggly!
After the ceremony (which does not allow photographers inside), we stepped outside into downtown Norfolk for portraits. One of my favorite locations for elopements is the Norfolk U.S. Customs House, a building with clean architectural lines, tall columns, and a neutral palette that photographs beautifully.

Elopements like theirs highlight why Norfolk is such a strong choice for couples planning a smaller celebration. The courthouse is accessible, the surrounding streets offer a variety of backdrops, and weekday ceremonies allow you to avoid crowds and enjoy the city at a quieter pace. If you’re considering a Virginia elopement, Norfolk offers both convenience and character!
For couples beginning the planning process, the Norfolk Circuit Court Clerk’s Office provides current marriage license and ceremony information (see here). If you’re traveling in or want to explore the area after your ceremony, Visit Norfolk offers helpful guides to restaurants, waterfront spots, and neighborhoods worth walking through (see here).

If you’re looking for a photographer who works in a documentary, editorial style — someone who prioritizes real moments, clean composition, and true‑to‑life color — I’d love to connect. You can reach me through my contact page or explore more of my work over on instagram.
Arianna and Wesley’s elopement was simple by design, and that simplicity made space for everything that mattered. Norfolk is an ideal place for days like this — efficient, walkable, and full of understated backdrops that elevate the experience without complicating it.
